1)forget about the key you'll be disposing of this unit anyway 2)the alarm is to tell you that the unit is above ideal temp. 3)the unit isn't making temp due to refrigeration issue. if it isn't cold enough on 3 then 1 won't do it either.

My upright freezer is freezing ice on the top 2 shelves and they freeze to the door so bad that if broke my rail on door when I opened it from being frozen to shelf. The seal seems to be ok and have no idea how to fix it

Hello, The unit is freezeing because you are having a fault when the unit is trying to go into its defrost cycle. Click this link http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/R0303508-00003.png you would have to perform a continuity test on parts 20 and 14 using a multimeter to see which of these two is at fault. Usually it is part 20 which is the defrost thermostat that causes this issue in the unit. If you do test both of these parts and both do have continuity message me back for further diagnosis. Thanks I await your reply and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks Rick

Small Frigidaire chest freezer not freezing any longer

Hi, first check the dial inside the freezer and make sure you have it set for a cold temperature, check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost, check the freezer (evaporator) fan to see if it is running, check the condenser coil (under the unit) for blockage from dust, check the condenser fan (under the unit) to see if it is running. If you have frost in the freezer, there is a problem with the defrost system and the freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food section. If that is the problem, you can check the defrost terminator, defrost heater/s, and the defrost timer or adaptive defrost control if used on the unit, or the main control board if so equipped. These things usually require dismantling the freezer and other areas of the refrigerator to be checked. You could defrost the freezer by disconnecting the power to the refrigerator and letting it sit for at least 24 hours with DOORS WIDE OPEN to allow the frost to melt completely but it will build up again in 1-2 weeks and start the warming up again. If the freezer refrigerator is older, then the problem should be with the compressor with either a slow leak of gas or the gas is totally empty. Please call in a repair service.Take care

Upright freezer door inside developing ice

The door seal is at fault. Regardless of the small tear it is not sealing well. Take a dollar bill and close it in the door. Then pull on the bill to feel resistance. You will find it pulls easily in some place. That is where your air leak is that is causing the condensation. Do this about every 6 inches all the way around the seal.
