Ffu20fc6aw4 Freezer runs too much. Located in garage. Runs almost non-stop in summer; 0 degF here & still cycles often. Defrost coil does not ice up, defrost element OK, defrost tstat will open & close. Have replace freezer tstat. Seems like it could be the defrost timer stuck in ON position, causing unit to defrost every time defrost tstat closes. Food stays frozen & temp stays around 0 deg F in freezer. Is it logical defrost timer could be the problem.

How old is your model you have. a weak pump will make the system slower to get to temp even a broken seal can do this. even just a few mil gap can make it do this. if you close the door then re-open it it should be harder to open the door. this is the seal being nice and tight to its fittings.

Ok we have a kenmore upright freezer Model # 253.26062103. We got it brand new about 3-4 years ago. It was working fine til about 2 weeks ago when the ice cream became soft and high temp alarm started going off..everything else stayed frozen. my husband checked and there was frost build up on the back wall which we decided to take evrything out of the freezer and self defrost it because we thought since the outside temp was unusually high maybe the freezer wasnt able to defrost properly. We did this and plugged it back in a few days later. We put a thermometer inside the freezer and it is only reading 20 degrees F or -5 celcius. Still not cold enough. We then replaced the electronic control panel which also houses the defrost timer and that did not help raise the temp. Alarm still going off when switched is turned on. We then decided to have a repair service out...they said it was the defrost heater, timer and thermostat, we said we already replaced the timer, so we bought the other 2 parts and replaced them. well it is still not cooling properly and we have no idea what to check next...This is costing us a ridiculous amount of money and we can't get a solution...Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the sensor, a $15 part. it pretty much controls everything related to defrosting.

Freezer fan on compressor off

They make generic "compressor packs" to solve these. Your capacitors and relay and parts that support the compressor operation went out.If you're really really like just the temp overload switch went and you can jumper bypass it. It usually looks like a piezo electric type of disc connected right onto the comp case itself. But you're right with the DT, the motors go out on them a lot. They are usually for 4/6/10/12 hours depending on make and model. Sometimes the contacts go So if you could isolate them... they're on the larger side and will go from the power to the compressor. Use a jumper and test for a complete circuit to the plug and through the compressor before trying it.By law all freezers and ovens have to have a schematic diagram on them. Often it it in a little plastic package and sometimes just wallpapered to the inside of a large piece of sheetmetal in back.Good that you know how to use a meter!

New freezer not cooling - temp @ 25 degrees and food is defrosted

It is probably the control board and since it's new it's still under warranty so a certified Frigidaire repair man will fix it without charge. There should be a telephone number with the paperwork you received when you bought it.

Frigidaire Freezer Model FFU20F9FW1 defrost problems

You say when you advance the defrost timer , id assume turn it ever so slightly the machine kicks on ad begins to freeze again?? then prior to advancing timer i would expect the unit to be totally dead(stuck in defrost mode).no fans, compressor or anything. that suonds like a bad timer or chck the wires going into the timer

Frigidaire freezer runs a lot. Located in garage. In summer runs almost non-stop. Currently outside temps are below 0 deg F and freezer still cyles frequently. Have replace the freezer tstat. Defrost coil does not ice up, defrost elemen is good, and can cause defrost tstat to open/close. Seems like defrost timer could be stuck in ON mode causing freezer to defrost every time defrost tstat closes and stop when defrost tstat opens, repeating this cycle continually. Food remains frozen. Is it logical defrost timer is the cause?

Yup, these timers have a tiny clock motor that can get lint on them, causing motor failure, should be simple replacement. Refrigerators in cold garages run more to regulate their temperature below 45 degrees.

I have a Kenmore upright freezer-model LFFH2067DW2 -the red light has been on for at least 12 hours and the freezer is defrosting-water is leaking on the floor-there is a vent insidethe freezer and the metal above it is hot-I assume this is part of the defrost feture. The manual does not tell if this is normal or how long it takes to defrost the freezer or how to stop water from running on the floor--the freezer is blowing cold air at times--how do I stop the water on the floor and is this normal defrost?

Hi,I was made aware of your concern and would like to offer a few ideas you may want to consider. Water dripping down is not a leak during defrost condition as this would be the ice melting. Normally, there would be a drain hose specifically to channel the melted ice/water to a drainage system. The amount of water would then be proportional to the amount of ice melting as with the length of time to completely melt, drain away.Perhaps you could check the filter/drain screen as well as the drain opening for any blockage/clogging. You could also try checking the same on the drain hose as well as for possible kinks. Additionally, there would be a sensor behind a boxy cover that triggers the system back into operation. If there is still melted ice/water inside the freezer, then the sensor would prevent the unit from turning on completely. You may want to check this sensor and verify that it is dry.An exploded parts diagram would help you identify/locate the above mentioned parts.Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
