Norlake walk in fridge

My 6'x'6 walk in leaks whenever the door is left open for 30 seconds. It drips through the vent in the ceiling. Also no water comes out of the plastic tube that goes into the evaporator pan on the top of the walk in. Someone said this might have something to do with it

Suggested Questions And Answer :

GE GSS22JFMCWW I have a few problems with my side by side. Probably related to the same thing. The freezer will get cold ice will be solid and then it will start to defrost. The fridge section will be somewhat cold and then warm up. I noticed this last time that frost was building up on the back wall of the freezer. I am not sure if the problem is with the thermostat, the heater or the motherboard. (Or I could be way off base) HELP!

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should. possible causes: bad defrost timer/control board bad defrost heater (in freezer) bad thermo switch in freezer If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.  if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.  Mike  these are the usual suspects.heater in the back wall of the freezer:thermal switch also in the back wall of the freezer

Norlake freezer 6x6 not freezing enough

Normally freezers are kept at zero. Most health departments will not allow the temp to be higher than plus 10. If you want to store ice cream, you need to be at minus 10 degrees to minus 15 degrees. let me know if I can be of any further help.

Walk-in norlake freezer

Check the evaporator coil for frost buildup on the back. Check for frost on the suction line, the biggest line returning to the compressor. If frost is evident at these places you have a defrost system problem. These systems have a defrost timer that defrosts the coil at preset times. Check the timer for proper operation by marking the position of the dial and check back to see if it changes. If it does not change position the timer motor is most likely bad. If the dial is not rotating automatically you can manually turn the dial in the direction of the arrow and put it through a defrost cycle.

Refrigerator is not cooling

Good day, You will need an ohm meter to check the parts. Your defrost system has failed. It is made up of 3 components, 2 of which are located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment. Remove the rear panel. There is a cooling coil, that has a calrod heating element that runs along it's bottom. As well there is a defrost thermostat ( a small round 1" disk) which is located on the top of the same coil. Both should be checked with an ohm meter to test for continuity. The heater should read no more than 30 ohms, the thermostat ( IT MUST STILL BE COLD BELOW 30 DEGREES) should read zero ohms. Note: The heater rarely fails, the thermostat has a high failure rate. The third item is a timer, or a solid state adaptive defrost control. Depending on age, and model, it is located , behind the kick plate on the bottom front. Or, in the fresh food compartment on the roof. If it is a timer, you can turn the timer shaft when the machine is running until the machine shuts off. With it still turned on, wait 40 minutes. If the machine turns itself back on, the timer is O.K. if not, the timer is bad, and needs replaced. If the Main heater checks O.K. and it has a solid state control, then replace the thermostat in the freezer compartment, and the solid state board. Below is an excellant tutorial on defrost systems. I have a 6x6 norlake walk in freezer. The door remained open for 6-7 hours by mistake and now temperature does not go below 15 degrees. The technician told me to replace compressor as slowly temperature will get higher. How much it should reasonably cost if I have to replace compressor and dryer.

I've worked on freezers for over 20 years and have never heard of a compressor going bad because the door was left open. think about a second opinion. Also, has the cooling coil inside the box developed and frost or ice build up? If so, it needs to be completely defrosted. If you defrost it manually, use a hose hooked up to hot water. Kill all power and hose all build up off. Remove the sheet metal housing ends and be sure there is no ice inside there too. I would go in this direction first. IN order to kill a compressor under this condition, something really strange must have happened as anything is possible in a refrigeration system. Good luck and hope this helps.
