I have a Bosch Exxcel frost free Maxx freedom performance upright freezer, model no. GSU29464GB. It has recently started beeping on it's own and the temp light (set on 20 degrees) has started flashing, opening and shutting the door would not change anything, it has done this twice, both times it was a very hot day. Now is working ok sometimes (light not flashing, no beep), but when opening the door to get something out, when you close the door sometimes the temp light will start flash and stay flashing for hours/days, then will stop flashing on its own, no beeping though while this happens. Have remove most of the food, have left some test pieces in it, which seem to be staying frozen, have just put some ice cubes in a bowl in it to see if they're melting/ refreezing or not. Any ideas, thanks

I would first try a complete defrost, by removing all food, unplug the freezer and let the door open for two days, (you can take the opportunity to clean the inside ha ha!) this is to make sure there are no ice build up around the sensors, than re connect the power and let it freeze up again, (on hot humid days the automatic defrosting cycle has difficulties to perform), don't forget to empty the water pan under the freezer (if equipped) and to put many towels around the bottom as well, it could leak some water on the floor... if the problem persists, than have it checked by a professional technician...Cheers!

Changing the temperature on the Isa SP Freezer

It sounds like the control panel is in locked mode. Try pushing the button and holding for 3 to 5 seconds. One of the buttons should unlock doing that. It is set that way to keep kids from messing with the temperature. If you can't get it google the Isa website and try to find your model or to download a manual.

Frigidaire FFU20F9G (model FFU20F9GW3) temperature light is on

Several things could cause this. To check most things you will need to remove the back wall of the freezer to see the evaporator. It is possible the freezer is low on gas. If it is the coils will usually appear to be only half frosted or less. It is possible the defrost is bad ( I assume this is a frost free) In this case the coils will be totally clogged with ice and no air can circulate. If so you'll most likely have to replace the bi-metal... a circular looking part about the diameter of a quarter clipped onto the coil with 2 wires leading from it. This may also cause the fan to stop running from ice accumulation...or the fan itself could be bad which would also cause a partial meltdown. Unless the machine needs gas an appliance repair person will probably charge you around 100 bucks for most of these repairs..gassing it of course will be more and there is no guarantee how long the gas will stay in it as most leaks are difficult, if not impossible to locate. Hope that helps !

My wife and I bought a Kenmore chest freezer (14.8 cubic foot) about 6 weeks ago. It is made by Frigidaire for Sears, and the model number is #253.165.42105, serial # WB94341279. It has been working OK. However, I put two high-quality thermometers in the freezer, one deep in the center of the freezer and the other in one of the baskets near the top of the freezer. The temperature setting was on #5 out of a possible 8, where 8 is the coldest. The temperature in the center ranged from -13.2F to +8.1F, a difference of nearly 23F degrees. The basket thermometer ranged from -7F to 18F, a difference of 25F degrees. That seems to be far too great a swing in temperatures ? and it was measured without the door being opened except to read the thermometers. I?m sure this model freezer has a factory specification for the maximum temperature differential allowable before the unit turns back on to lower the temperature. Could you please let me know what it is? Everywhere I read it says that frozen food should be kept below +5F degrees for maximum safety and quality. Even the center of the freezer doesn?t stay below +5F degrees. Please let me know the spec for the maximum temperature differential for this freezer and what I should do about its performance. Thank you.

This is well with in factory specifications. Hot air rises and cold air drops. Because a chest freezer does not have a fan to circulate the air it is normal for the basket to be warmer than the bottom of the freezer. The bottom of the freezer is used for food you want to keep for a longer period of time. What you store in the basket is food you will freeze for a short period of time. Ice cream should not be kept in the basket. As you fill your freezer with food you will find that the temperature will equal out because the frozen food will take up the place of the frozen air which will give you a more stable freezer temperature. Try your test when you have it full of food.

There has got to be a way to change the factory preset freezer temperature on a Delfield 6000 series MCII to operate at refrigerator tempatures. Does anyone know how I can change the factory preset temperature range to go up to ~36F? Current range restricted to -5 to 10F.

Do you mean to go up to +36 degrees? If so, it just won't work correctly. The refrigerant is the wrong one to run at 36 degrees. The pressure on the "low" side of the compressor is so low that the compressor will starve for freon if you tried to change the thermostat to "warm" it up to +36. Also the defrost cycle would have to be disabled or it would jump to 50 or 60 degrees 4 times a day. It also has the wrong cap tube for that temperature. It could be done with a very expensive condensing unit changeout. Over the years I have seen a lot of people try it and nobody that I know have been succesful at it. It may be easier to find someone who wants to trade. After all a freezer is worth more dollars than a cooler. Good luck.
