If the door was left open you may have frozen the evaporator (on a frost free). I would suggest defrosting it as soon as possible and make sure the door doesnt get left open again. If it is not frost free it may just be that it is still trying to recover the temp it had lost by an open door. Hope this helps.

Not sucking out air when door closes anymore

Run your hand around the freezer gasket with the freezer closed slowly and see if you feel any cold air, also check corners they leak to,frost is caused by warm air getting into the freezer or the defrost system is failing, let me know what you find-mike

I have just replaced the door seal on my freezer and now the door will not stay closed. I have checked the door to make sure it is level. The lock on the door works but does not keep the door closed tight enough to seal the door completely around. Can you help me? Also, whitout any latch other than the lock how does the door stay closed if not locked. With the original seal the door would remain closed and sealed with or without the door being locked. Thank You for your help, Sincerely Michael Fiolka

Hi yestermorrow,Thank you for using Fixya. A nifty idea you can try is to adjust your front level feet upwards. This will allow the door to lean against the fridge. It does not need to be adjust upwards too much though. It is a solution that will make sure the door seals against the fridge, as well as not having to replace anything. Another thing you MUST do is run boiling hot water all over the seal (Remember towels for the spillage) This will allow the rubber to expand, and become soft for extra sealing. To answer your question regarding how it locks, it locks with suction. If the seal is sealing all around the door area (Soft seals a must for good sealing), it will create a semi-vacuum area inside the fridge (Thus the sucking sound when opening a fridge door)I really hope this has helped you. :-)* If you found this solution helpful, please rate it.

My fridge door doesn't seem to close completely - No suction?

If you peel back the seal from inside out you should find some screws. losen the screws and replace the part that came out. to set the seal just heat it with a hair dryer with the door closed and hold the seal with a putty knife until it cools

Kenmore freezer The upright freezer door will not seal. The gasket apears in tack but even when you push it closed it will not stay closed. The freezer does not make that vacuum like sound when you close the door. Do we just need a new gasket or is there some other problem. There is no ice buildup or anything obstucting the seal. The motor and freezing action are working OK.

Our frididaire upright was working fine and we noticest leakage and the compressor is on and running and it is cold but the food was defrosting. When you close the door we do not hear the "sucking sound" so the door is not sealing?

If it has a water in the door let me clarifiy I mean water like a water dispencer common with side by sides the hose some times will cause the seal not to seal properly

Freezer door won't close at top

If you are careful, open the door 90 degrees and place your leg against the bottom corner inside of the open door and your hand at the top corner, then GENTLY push inward. You should be able to feel and see the move or twist. Then close the door to test for proper sealing. Another way to adjust the door is to loosen the screws behind the door seal and twist, but this usually unnecessary if you do the leg trick properly. I have a Frigedaire Upright freezer, Model says

To verify what i think could be the problem i would need the complete model number so i can recheck what i am about to tell you the freezer has a heater where the door gasket seals itself on (not on the door behind gasket but on the freezer itself) see if you can feel if it is warm where the gasket rest on the freezer this help it get that solid air tight seal. and prevent ice build up on gasket well this maybe one possible without being there its alittle hard to tell what else hope this was alittle helpful
