Freezer comes on fan starts after a few seconds goes off freezer unit freezes solid fan doesnt come on again fan is ok

Good day, When the thermostat is turned on, the fan and compressor should come on and start at the same time. If the compressor continues to run and the fan doesn't, then the fan motor or the wiring to it are suspect. Quote (The fan motor is o.k ). I doen't know how you tested it, but it still remains suspect, since the thermostat sends power to both of them at the same time.

Whining sound from motor on Frigidaire upright freezer

Hi: It sounds like you bought a frost free freezer as it has a fan. The fan will come on to circulate the air. It will not necessarly run continuosly. The noise is most likely coming from the fan. I sold Frigidaire freezers for years and they are noisy compared to a refridgerator. If you think it is louder than it was when you bought it, I would replace the circulating fan. Also look at the back wall for frost as it could be a bad defrost heater blocking it with ice. Most likely just the fan though. Since it's in a detached garage, and you won't have to put up with the noise inside your house, it could run a while before failing. The fact it's getting cold is a very good sign. Also as you asked 2'nd, a freezer is ok in an unheated garage. Don't put a refrigerator in there. Unless It is a Whirlpoll Gladiator that is designed for such applications. Use to find out where the fan is if you feel it is necessary to replace it. Its not a tough job if you are handy. Their shipping is expensive so you might want to buy it locally.

Freezer not freezing, and leaking

If this unit has an ice maker and you noticed water leaking into the refigerator, I had a similar problem. The water turn off valve for the ice maker had a small piece of sand or grit lodged in it and stopped the valve from closing properly. So it could not turn of completely and the valve became increasingly more sloppy as the piece of sand was wedged in further. The solution was to replace the samll valve. An easy job for someone a bit handy. If the water has frozen in the bottom of the freezer compartment the colliing port for the cold air may also be affected. Don't chip the ice out of the bottom, defrost it with pans of hot water.Hope this helps

Hotpoint FFA74 Fridge Freezer - Freezer High Temp Warning Light on.

Read More At : Freezers...

I have a sub-zero 642 sidebyside (10yrs old). Fridge recently stopped cooling and required replacement of evaporator. Coils and condenser were thoroughly vacuumed. This was done by a factory rep. Now I find that every day or two, the freezer temp jumps up to about 7-10 degrees (setting is at 0-degrees). And, sometimes 'vaccuum condenser' warning comes on indicating overheating. The center frame (separating freezer from fridge is very warm but not too hot to touch, condenser fins do not seem too hot, but overhead compartment where condenser is located seems quite warm). This is a built in unit, so each time I notice freezer acting up, I pull off cover grill and look to see if condenser fan is running (it is), but presumably if it is failing on an intermittent basis--this would have occurred before I notice the higher freezer temp and so I may be missing the time period when the fan motor is not running as it should. Any ideas on what the problem might be -- I plan to replace the fan motor as a first move to eliminate that as a possible source of the problem.

When they replaced the evaporator coil they had to re-charge the unit. Sounds like there may be a small leak.
