LG Fridge freezer Ice formation

We are getting regular ice build up in the base of the freezer section, had the back panel out but couldnt see any problem. Believe from this forum that the cause could well be a blocked drain, I couldnt see a drain when I looked allthough I wasnt aware of what to look for then, where would the drain be located?, I dont know the model no off hand but it is approx 3 years old, has single doors.

Maytag rtd 2300aaw Fridge. Freezer iced up/ fridge not below 40 - iced drain in freezer? Have unplugged for 24 hours and poured hot water on base of freezer - water seems to be dripping into fridge and also running down back of interior of fridge compartment then draining through bottom of fridge into drip pan. if freezer drain iced it is/was probably plugged?

Sounds like your drain hole/drain line from the freezer to the drip pan is clogged up.remove your freezer floor panelThen remove the back panel, if you have an ice maker, you'll need to remove that first. Then you will see the drain hole under the evaporator coil. It may beiced up, you will have to clear all of the ice and run hot water downthe drain hole. Most times this is a plugged defrost drainsystem. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted orplugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in thefreezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled througha small hose into a cup in the top middle of thefresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, thewater is directed out the back wall to a drain hosethat runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created underthe fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) canbe removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system.Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flushit out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to helpclean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of thefreezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drainhole. You can clean this out in the same manneras previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of thefresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hoseinside the walls now ( Whirlpoolmakes many of the maytag branded refrigerators ) onthere top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cupinside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the onlyaccess is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporatorcoils. Why does my daewoo fridge freezer works intermittently ?

You either have a faulty thermostat, a loose connection or most likely a build up of ice inside the freezer. I had the same problem. Almost replaced fridge. Took all the food out one day, took out the racks and disassembled bottom and rear and found a two foot log block of ice inside air return. Removed ice everything works perfectly.

Hotpoint fridge freezer icing up freezer and fridge does not work

Does your model have independent thermostats for the fridge & freezer??? If not, could be that you will need to change the Thermostat. These are not expensive - around £10 if you buy on the Internet. Easy to fit yourself...just turn off the power, remove the power plug from the wall, then unscrew the 'stat unit from inside near the top of the fridge (some are attached to the interior light) and remove the screw holding the thermostat tube to the rear wall. Often the thermostat gets a small hole somewhere in the long tube, which then lets all the gas escape, making the stat useless. You can see these small holes in the pipe if you use a magnifying eyeglass, like the kind Jewellers use.

A year ago I was given a very large White Westinghouse Fridge-Freezer of unknown age. I can't see the model number as some of the information on the back has been damaged. It's an American-style product, with two tall compartments side by side rather than on top of one another. The freezer section has an ice maker and cold water dispenser... anyway the machine worked well for months, but now although the machine appears to be still running - lights, compressor etc, it's stopped getting really cold. The freezer side is just above freezing (Ice doesn't stay ice but it feels cold) and the fridge side is only just below ambient temp. The only thing I can see wrong is that at the back is a narrow plastic tube coming out of a joint near the top of the fridge: this had become detached, and it seems empty. I have put it back, but it's still empty. I am afraid the product may not be repairable but I need to be sure. What should I do?

Have you tried cleaning the condensor coils.

The fridge has an electrical fault in it.You may need to take the fridge back and have it repaired or you can just lower the temperature more if possible. It sounds like the Temperature Gauge is dieing out on the fridge.
