Sub-Zero Under Counter Ice Maker not making Ice

I have a 9 year old Sub-Zero under counter ice maker that is having problems making ice. I have cleaned the system thoroughly, including the freezing tray. When I turn on the ice maker the pump starts to pump water up to the freezing tray and the water runs down over it. After a short time a sheet of ice forms on the freezing tray but it never releases and slides down to the cutting tray. I have let it run for several hours and the ice never releases and gets cut. Any suggestions would be welcome since I feel like I have tried everything except replacing the freezing tray. Thanks in adva

I have a Sub-Zero 501 F upright freezer. I have never hooked up the ice-cube maker. There is a problem with ice build up in the drain tray and it overflows into the ice-maker. I had a tech in and he put in a second drain but the problem has persisted. In order to correct the problem, I have to defrost the freezer and there is obviously a large build-up of ice behind the back panel. I'd like to fix this problem myself once and for all. Please help! Thanks Joan

Sounds like the mullion heater (drain tube heater is open). take back off (after removing all shelves, including the glass tray (remove 4 screws). Pull back out, careful not to pull wires off T'stat. Run the new wires on heater behind evaperator, placing heater down in drain hole. Good LuckJoe

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.
