Check the vents of your fridge side if present, if no air then may be your blower not working or some ice formation that blocks the air(try defrosting). Check also your vents for obstruction or overloaded with stocks.

Hi, i have a Hoover HCA 36 FT ALU fridge freezer, a few weeks back it started making a wheird high pitched gurgling noise, a yesterday it stopped working. If i switch it off at the mains and then back on it will start up then stop straight away, it does try to run but almost instantly stops again. The light inside is working, however sometimes flashes slowly on and off? Also, if i leave it off at the mains for about an hour, with both doors open, then switch it on at the mains it will do a normal cycle, cool the fridge, freeze the freezer section but when it is supposed to kick in when temp raises it wont restart? .

Sounds like a capillary issue. The capillary tube is the metering device for the refrigerant.... a long tube with the bore measured in thousandths of an inch. If it has become restricted, it could well be overloading the compressor on start-up if the pressures on the high and low sides of the system do not equalize. In my experience, this is quite common on systems utilizing R*134A, especially if the compressor has overheated previously. You may well need the services of a refrigeration technician.

I have a GE fridge and freezer. This is a standard home model, bought at one of those bargain stores about 3 years ago. They are no longer in business. It has been working real good until recently. It slowly started not getting to cold. Most noticeable in the freezer section. Even the fridge side area seems to be not getting below about 55 degrees. I also hear it seems like motor working hard. Any idea what it could be for the fix? Thanks Tim.

Hello Tim.Thanks so much for choosing me for my help with your freezer. I believe you are having one of the most common problems with your freezer as most people have.No one sit around when they have some spare time and says >> Honey, instead of going to the beach this weekend, lets go pull put out the fridge and freezer and clean it. Sense you bought it about 3 years ago, and it is slowly getting warmer and warmer and you can hear motor working hard, I would bet it needs to be cleaned. I also would bet, that you have not sense new have pulled it out and took back lower cover off and cleaned it.Assuming I am correct, this is what you do. First unplug the unit. Store food in a another fridge if you can or maybe a neighbors house until you fix this problem. Now, sense it is 55 degrees now, most likely most the food could be spoiled anyway. So your call on the risk of saving that.Anyway, you unplug fridge/freezer, as the motor is cooling down, you now pull out fridge and take off lower panel on the rear. Sometimes has tabs, screws , hooks etc.... After you get the rear cover off, then you will notice all kinds of junk in there, fir balls, and just down right dirt. Get yourself a shop vac and start vacuuming all the coil area, and anywhere you can get that dirt and build up out. Even if you have a air compressor hose that will reach to blow it out, or a can of compressed air you can get from any computer section and local store. Anyway, you want to clean it, excuse the expression to the point of you can eat off it. Once you are convinced it is clean, then plug it back in, and fire that baby up, and you will most likely notice quieter motor and cooling down back to normal. Please let me know , Of course you will know instantly when you pull cover off back and if you see dirty and caked up, there is your problem for sure. Thanks Again, MikeSome kind words with a rating of my help would be appreciated if your satisfied.......

A year ago I was given a very large White Westinghouse Fridge-Freezer of unknown age. I can't see the model number as some of the information on the back has been damaged. It's an American-style product, with two tall compartments side by side rather than on top of one another. The freezer section has an ice maker and cold water dispenser... anyway the machine worked well for months, but now although the machine appears to be still running - lights, compressor etc, it's stopped getting really cold. The freezer side is just above freezing (Ice doesn't stay ice but it feels cold) and the fridge side is only just below ambient temp. The only thing I can see wrong is that at the back is a narrow plastic tube coming out of a joint near the top of the fridge: this had become detached, and it seems empty. I have put it back, but it's still empty. I am afraid the product may not be repairable but I need to be sure. What should I do?

Have you tried cleaning the condensor coils.
