Try putting vaseline on the gasket. You are not getting a good seal.

Freezer door is accumulating frost inside it at the very top. Frost build up has been occcuring for 7to 10 days and we have been removing it periodically. Freezer purchased on 6-23-05. The gasket appears to be in good condition inasmuch as the door closes tightly at the top also. fyi we have had an apppliance service man from Lindale come out, he ordered a new gasket, and had considerable difficulty getting it to fit properly. So he gave up, replaced the original one, and the problem is still unsolved. Thank you for your help. Tom

The gasket is not sealing correctly and is allowing warm air to meet cold air just below the seal. Get someone with more skill to fit a new gasket , preferably one made by the original manufacturer , which should fit unlike some of the parts made by third party suppliers

I have a Kenmore 16 cu ft upright freezer that runs constantly( Model 2539206281). It has a manufacture date of 1991. It has been in storage most of its life. I know the door seal needs replaced but I wanted to see if it still worked before I invested a lot of money in it. For now I use a piece of duct tape to keep the door sealed. I adjust the thermostat and it does change the inside temperature. I have tried this over several days. Making it cooler or warmer works by adjusting the thermostat. The highest setting will pull the inside temperature down to -10. However when I adjust the thermostat the other way it doesn't shut off until it reaches off. The sides and top are hot to the touch. Is it a problem with the thermostat or something else?

I have a Frigidaire freezer that is about 5 years old. I get ice build up inside the top of the door. The door appears to be closed.

Hello; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. 1.) Due you have the freezer in your garage? Freezers and refrigerators are not designed for the drastic temperature change through the seasons. If you had a service contract, your contract would be canceled. 2.) If you can run a piece of paper between the top door gasket and the freezer body you do not have a tight seal. Repair - Recondition the gasket. Wet the door gasket with water, with a hairy dryer heat the gasket while genteelly pulling the gasket out to expand with a spatula. 3.) If the gasket is good, then you are getting moisture either thru the top front of the unit or the top of the door. a.) Inspect the liner where the ice build-up is. Are there cracks? Repair - Seal cracks with a good silicone adhesive. b.) Inspect the upper door section and the front top of the freezer for possible leaks in the joints. Here again seal with adhesive. c.) If the top of the door is expanded, then you have moisture in the door and need to replace the door. You will never get the moisture out of the insulating material.

Our 19.6 cf whirlpool "commercial" freezer (sn EV201NXMQ0312 building up ice in the bottom under the slide out basket. It actually builds up enough in a month or so to keep the basket from sliding out. We've had a problem, almost from the beginning, with this freezer where the door doesn't seal completely all the way around. Under warrenty, they replaced the gasket but it still does it periodically. Don't know if the first is in any way related to the second. Can you provide any guidance on what I need to do?

The ice build up is from a frozen drain line. you will need to remove teh rear cover in the freezer and you will uncover a coil at the bottom center there is a drain hole that allows defrost water to drain out. defrost any ice then flush the line out with warm water. if it doesnt clear right away you may need to use a large syringe or possibly a turkey baster to force warm water into drain. BTW the door not sealing is not related to this problem. good luck peyton

Sub Zero Freezer (501r) has frost build up at top of door frame

Has your problem been diagnosed by a certified sub zero tech of did you diy the seal thinking that might be the problem? If so, you might want to get a pro to diagnose and save yourself the time and maybe a few bucks but at least, hopefully, get it fixed the first time. I am not a tech but it does sound like a failed defrosting element or part of the circuit that powers it. who knows, you might just have a lose wir :) One of those time a pro may be the best choice. Best of luck.

Frigidaire LFFH2067DW3 I have had several service calls for this freezer due to frost and ice build up on the top of the top shelf of the door. The first technician removed the light shield and indicated that the air does not circulate correctly with this model and that this build up is a common occurance. Did not work! The second technician now tells me that he has sealed the defuser and adjusted vents but the manufacturer is now saying that the build up is because the freezer is in my garage (I live in southeast Georgia). My daughter has the same freezer - in their garage, no problem. I purchased this freezer on July 1, 2007 but this build up did not begin until May of this year. Where do I go from here.

Roger ,If the problem started prior to July 2008 and you had service document it!call Frigidaire and ask for a supervisor!Tell them that you want it replaced or you will not buy the, Frigidaire Pro stainless steel kitchen that you planned to get in 2 months when you remodel you kitchen! They call it a PUSH PULL!They contact me or some other dealer and pay them replace it for you and it includes all charges that they pay to the dealer!0 dollars for you! Admiral upright freezer dripping water inside on top

Hello. I can help. Once we notice anything different from before we start becoming more aware of small variations. Regarding things on the top shelf warmer than on the bottom, this is always true because, "warm air rises and cold air falls". If you want the top shelf colder turn the thermostat to the next colder setting, always a good idea in the Summer season anyway. Even though your gasket looks good, a ten year old gasket is not as pliable as a new one resulting in the moisture problem you describe. I would begin by applying a thin coating of vaseline to the gasket once a week for a month. This little trick of the trade will often work. If it doesn't improve the situation do replace the gasket.
