Guide :Freezers : Danby

Rebate! We bought two Danby chest freezers,5.5 ,on Oct. 29th/07. At that time we were entitled to a $50.00 rebate on EACH freezer. Well we sent in receipts and model #, serial #', everything you requested to receive our rebates. A month later we get a letter saying we have to send it all again?. which we did. Also I sent in a letter explaining we bought two freezers the same day which means we should receive two $50.00 rebate checks. No such luck, a month later you send us $50.00, where is the other $50.00? Please correct this error and send our other $50.00. We hope to hear from you ASAP. Thank-you. Janice Horan

Freezer defrosts and unfreezes everything. A day or so later it refreezes.

Most domestic freezers do not have a defrost control. .90 percent of them freeze and every few years enough ice builds up that you have to unload and manually defrost them. so what is probably happening is the stat is sticking in hte off position and not recognizing the call for cool when the temp gets up. if you catch it off and thawed try tapping the stat gently after the temp is getting way warm. if the box comes on and starts freezing again then the stat is sticking in the off cycle and needs to be replaced. usually under 75 dollars and fairly easy. two wires connect in any order.the stat itself has no in and out requirements. power in and power out when it closes. there may be a ground wire usually green and smaller connector attached to some newer stats. look close and you can see the difference. usually the voltage connections are next to each other and the ground is off to the side or end. stat is usually behind a plastic cover inside the freezer. good luck, disconnect power when you change stat of course.

This unit was purchased new 61 months ago. First instance of any problems, ever, today it seems food isn't being kept frozen solid. We suspect the compressor is having a problem. There was no sound coming from the unit, unusually quiet! I changed the temp setting to cooler, heard a click sound, and the compressor starts humming, sounds like it's trying to work. After about 5-10 seconds I heard a loud click and the humming stopped. After a minute or two, I can repeat this. It seems like something is possibly overloading a circuit and automatically shutting off the compressor. I don't need to reset a circuit breaker or anything like that. I left the temp setting at "6" with the unit still quiet, to go and research online. About an hour later I returned and found the compressor humming and the interior compartment seemed like it was getting cold again, as it should be. We haven't touched the temperature setting control all these years until today. Could the refrigerant be getting low or something? Right now the unit appears to be working OK, but I'm concerned. I'm wondering if this is the beginning of compressor failure, or something else to be concerned with.

Yes it is a very big concern. It sounds to me like your condenser is dirty and the compressor gets hot and goes off on overload. You can tell by putting your hand NEAR the compressor.Be careful as the compressor can be very hot

We bought the Commercial Freezer T-23F last month and the unit never works right, we had a service persons came in to fix it two time, both time they fix the defrost timer and it still the same. The temperature always stay at 20* - 30* F, it works like a refrigerator. Two day ago. they replaced us with the same unit (new) and still the same problem ( temperature always stay at 20* - 30* F). This time, I momitor this replaced unit for 8 hours and notice that the defrost timer work two times and again still the same problem. Please help.

Is it factory new, never been used? Or are you saying you bought a used one and they replaced it with a "new" used one? I am familiar with True Manufacturing and if it is a new unit you have a one year parts and labor warranty. The dealer you bought it from is the responsible party to fix your problem.
