Ice Maker I recently moved into a house with a Whirlpool side by side fridge freezer combo. The freezer has an icemaker with an in-the door bucket and infrared detector - I am guessing for when to drop ice into the bucket. The infrared light is flashing, but the ice does not dop from the maker into the bucket. I can feel that there are frozen cubes in the maker. Any ideas?

The LED's are optics they sense the level of the ice in the bucket on the door under the icemaker is 2 1/4" screws you can remove the IM and the white cover put a small jumper in the pins T and H this will cycle the IM the door and optices will need to be closed (or best to tape them so you can leave the door open the IM should cycle if nt check the power at the N and L pins see if you have 120vs then we can go from there

Ice Maker in door of freezer-ref combo.

The ice maker has a float or full detection device that shuts the water off when trays are full. If you are sure this is where the water is coming from, then that's it.

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

Kenmore Ice Maker Not Making Ice

The water that is frozen in the fill tube could have come from the old water valve that you replaced ,you got to get the ice out, the easiest way ,though not the fastest ,is to unplug fridge for 24 hrs . and leave the doors open to let it defrost, the plug back up and hopefully in 5 or 6 hrs you'll have ice

Ice Maker is dead on Kenmore Elite TRIO bottom freezer with French doors. This model has separate water dispenser inside fridge on left and ice maker in bottom freezer. We've tried replacing the filter, hairdrying the ice maker, and thawing the freezer. No luck. Pulled the whole thing out from the wall today and noticed the water input separates into 2 lines and the freezer line has water in it but the water stops in the line just before entering the back of the freezer. Any suggestions for a brave amateur or is this a job for a professional?

You can check the fill tube in the freezer make sure it is not blocked with frozen water. if you can disconnec the water supply line from the fill tube try and reset the ice maker to advance it to a new cycle and if water come out of the supply line the you knwo there is a blockage if no water comes out the the ice maker may be bad or the fill valve is bad. last thing you may need to call a service tech out to find the problem.good luck i hope that this has helped some what.i would like to knwo how thing go for you

We have the Scotsman Ice Maker but it quit working and we would like to be able to use the custom, wood paneled door on whatever we put in that space. Is the Scotsman upright freezer the same size and be able to accept the door that is on the ice machine? Or would we have to purchase another Ice Maker? I have tried several times to clean it and had a repair man out twice and I just don't think it is worth trying to fix it again. He said it didn't have enough water power to property make the normal ice cube.

Http:// start with this site as it has your machines manual with trouble shooting section.

I own a Thermador Freedom Collection 18 inch Built-in Freezer Column with Exterior Ice and Water Dispenser Model T18ID80NRP and have had this unit for approx. 2 years as a companion unit to my Thermador refrigerator. Approximately 1 month ago, the ice maker suddenly began discharging crushed ice from the dispenser one evening and the result was a pile of ice/water on my hardwood floors. I opened the door and the ice making stopped, I then cleaned up the mess and within 30 minutes the same thing began happening again. I once again opened the door and the ice maker stopped dispensing ice. Since these episodes on a single evening approx. a month ago, I have had not further incidents and have had protection put on my floors in front of the unit in anticipation of this problem recurring. So, my problem is that my ice maker dispenses ice with no human interaction - please advise as to the possible cause and thank you very much.

No solution but just a warning. We had this same thing happen. They sent a repairman to replace the control board. Then did it again. Just before Christmas, the WATER started dispensing by itself. Luckily, I was nearby and heard it or the damage would have been extensive from flooding. They are now 'working on' getting a response from Thermador. I feel like this thing is just a homeowners claim waiting to happen.

My subzero 601 F freezer door gets hard to open unless you wait 4 minutes. While investigating this I discovered that there is a buildup of ice in the trough behind the icemaker. It appears that the drain line is stopped up with ice. There is a wire in the drain. Is it supposed to be heated to keep the drain clear? Perhaps it's not functioning? By the way, I do not have water run to the freezer and do not use the ice maker in the freezer. Once I thaw it out the door works just fine until the ice builds up. It takes a year or two to build up.

Switch off machine. open doors an manually defrost.clean any filters/drain holes(wire is not heated,pull/push to clean pipe)dry as best you can.switch on is best to manually defrost any unit every 6 months and if temp edjustable adjust to -20c for optimum economy.water to icemaker is not important on 601f but is on some carefull
