Freezer not cooling

ZoeM, I am thinking freeze up from humid conditions, too much 'window shopping' or bad door gasket (is that the seal of which you speak?). If the unit is only 9 months old...it has a full warranty. Don't do anything to it beyond what is described here. Defrost the unit completely. If you can get warm air to the coils, do so. If not, leave it off and open for 2 days to completely defrost. To check most door gaskets: first, make sure the gasket and its mating surface are both clean and visually undamaged. Next, test by simply closing the door on a piece of paper...use a strip about 2-3 inches wide and long enough to go inside the unit that you can slide across the gasket/frame surface. Close the door with the strip near any suspect areas. You should not be able to pull the strip out easily. Replace any damaged gaskets.

My Kenmore Upright Freezer Model 25326432100 flashed "ER."

My freezer was purchased in February, 2004. It is a self defrosting freezer but ice has started forming along the bottom shelf and back wall. Also, after cleaning the freezer the other day it has stopped clycing. The freezer will stop running only if I turn it down to the #1 setting and then it will not come back on. If I turn it up to a higher setting the compressor will not stop running. It ran for over 24 hours and would not cycle unless I turned it off or set it at the #1 setting. When I unplugged it and pulled it away from the wall, there was a green water spot the size of a dinner plate underneath the freezer. Help!! Very Unhappy this freezer is only 6 years old. S in Phila.

Ffu20fc6aw4 frigidaire upright freezer isn't cooling. The compressor is very hot to the touch and the sides are warm. Freezer was left open while running by a small child and not discovered for almost a week-hasn't cooled properly since then. HELP!

Hello,The advice i will give you is that you refill the compressor of your refrigerator with freon, because the refrigerator compressor is low on freon, that is why the compressor is very hot,.ensure you don't power on the unit anylonger until you refill the compressor with freon otherwise, the compressor will be damaged. Refill the compressor of your unit with freon and your unit should be back in place.Take care.

Freezer is not cooling to highest capacity; things in the door are not frozen very cool to touch. I have meat on the topshelf, middle, and they are still frozen not thoughed but the vegatbles are cool to the touch. I belive the freezer to be packed and not enough air flow is circulating. Any suggestions besides taking it apart and restacking the freezer. How do I know if it will be something major, the local repair guy is booked until monday Model # is LFFu14651DW5

Air flow is very important. Make sure the vents in the back where the air blows are not restricted. Check to make sure any of the food is blocking the door from closing all the way or in the way of the door seal. Take a look at the back wall near the bottom of the freezer, if you see frost build up on it you may have a defrost problem. Look for frost around the door on the inside liner or door shelves, if this is found then you have a door sealing problem.

Kenmore Upright Freezer compressor running 6 seconds every minute

Usually the compressor runs pretty warm anyway. However if you think it's too hot I would start with the condenser coils located either under the unit or on occasion they are located on the back. The air flow across these coils as well as the airflow around the compressor must be maintained. I forgot to ask if the condenser fan is running. Check and make sure that the Fan is running and the air flow is good. Also, When you transported the unit did you move it standing vertically like it normally stands or did you lay it on its side. If you transported the unit on its side you must wait a minimum of 24 to 48 hours prior to start up or the unit could be ruined permanently. The refrigerant has to be utilized through the compressor as a gas. If the unit is on its side liquid refrigerant could be introduced into the compressor and can cause permanent damage. If this is the case I recommend that you turn the unit off at once and wait the 36 hours for the Refrigerant to settle then try it again. This transportation rule applies for any appliance That uses refrigerant, Air Conditioners etc. These units are not that hard to diagnose. The only other item that is usually a problem is the defrost timer. It is not very expensive and can also cause some of the same symptoms that you are eluding to. The defrost timer allows the freezer to periodically shut down to prevent the buildup of frost or ice on he evaporator coils and on the inside the unit. If it is defective, then the unit will either run all the time and cause the evaporator coils to freeze up or will not allow the compressor to switch on and it will not freeze like it should.

Freezer does not freeze anymore

The freezer usually has the condensor coil sandwiched ilong the outer cabnet and in the back the lines come out in to the compressor compartment as a tech i have found the steel line rusts where the epoxy coating is no longer in tact so i would say you most likely have leaked out the refrigerant
