Temp. can not reach 0 degree.

Things that need checking: refrigerant level. Super heat. Condenser clean? Compressor effeciency. These are things that an experienced tech can check. If you have some experience and gages/ tools, I can give you some things to do but most of this requires experience. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

The freezer doesnt go below 0 degrees anymore it goes 27-28 degrees . What could be the problem?

A defective temperature control can cause that problem. Check by dialing it, it should be smooth when dialed. It should be on desired degrees where you set it and not on other. Thanks for asking.

Our dial for the 12.5 cubic freezer is 0-7 the book says it is set at the factory but you can adjust what is an average number to have the dial at as we are not always at the cottage to moniter it I have it to cold right now and do not want to turn it to low and my manuel does not tell you the factory setting\r\n thanks

The average number to have it set at is 5. I would start on 5 and if it is to cold then turn it to 4. That is where I would start.

What does the temp display on the freezer tell me?

Unless this is a dedicated freezer only and not a side by side or over/under , there's no way it's going to get down too 0 degrees inside a warm home , nope not gonna happen also its not good for you to set this there as compressor wont cycle properly there and entire freezer will ice up , then believe it or not it will get warmer not colder wastes a lot of power as well

We have an upright Kenmore Frost Free freezer that is stored in an unheated space at our house. Each spring, it seems that the freezer stops working, and teh compressor never turns on. Temp inside freezer is rising, is now about 40 degrees on top, and around 20 degrees at bottom of freezer. Any thoughts or suggestions?? I wondered if the rising temps outside is causing the freezer to get confused, or is there an actual problem that we need to have fixed??

I think you allow fresh air to flow in the compressor side or try and get a refrigerator fan for it.

I have a sub-zero 642 sidebyside (10yrs old). Fridge recently stopped cooling and required replacement of evaporator. Coils and condenser were thoroughly vacuumed. This was done by a factory rep. Now I find that every day or two, the freezer temp jumps up to about 7-10 degrees (setting is at 0-degrees). And, sometimes 'vaccuum condenser' warning comes on indicating overheating. The center frame (separating freezer from fridge is very warm but not too hot to touch, condenser fins do not seem too hot, but overhead compartment where condenser is located seems quite warm). This is a built in unit, so each time I notice freezer acting up, I pull off cover grill and look to see if condenser fan is running (it is), but presumably if it is failing on an intermittent basis--this would have occurred before I notice the higher freezer temp and so I may be missing the time period when the fan motor is not running as it should. Any ideas on what the problem might be -- I plan to replace the fan motor as a first move to eliminate that as a possible source of the problem.

When they replaced the evaporator coil they had to re-charge the unit. Sounds like there may be a small leak.
