It sounds like a Freon leak. The compressor is running and it gets a little cold. THis is not something you can fix yourself. You have to have certification to buy freon and gauges and know exactly how to use them. Besides in most cases you can't find the leak and will have to keep recharging it.

My sister has a Candy integrated Fridge... Problem with the Hoover Refrigerators My sister has a Candy integrated Fridge over freezer model no: Candy HBCBCA230FFK Every so often, it fails to keep cold and she couldn't make it restart again. Family got involved and pulled it out and did the obvious checks that the condenser was clean etc etc. No local repair shops seem able to assist us - does nobody fix fridge/freezer problems any more? One local store suggested we switch it off for 5 days and then restart it . This she did but only for 3 days and, when she switched it back on, it started working normally once more. 2 months later, the same thing has just happened again and she's going to leave it off for 2 days then restart it. For a high priced machine this seems to be an amazing sole fix. Surely, a fridge is a simple piece of physics with a compressor, fluid, some sort of cycling pump, a thermostat and a small computer board. Is there any way of diagnosing the problem and attempting our own fix, please?

Hi,This is simple your defrost system is having some problem. When you say switch it off for 3 days and then it works. Then the problem is with the defrost system.Just test the defrost system. The defrost system consist of defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In your system the defrost timer is controlled by the main control board. The timer needs to activated to melt the forst. When the timer sends the signal to the heater it starts warming up the refrigerator. In you case since the board is defective. The ice frost up near the air flow valve. So it blocks the flow of the cold air in the refrigerator.Since you switch off for 2 days it gets melted and again the system gets into normal state. Please test the board, thermostat and heater using multimeter.Check for any changes in the reading. If their is no reading just replace a comment for further assistance.Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Fridge freezer my fridgefreezer is auto defrost but the last couple of weeks the freezer has been getting ice in it. I have tried manually defrosting the freezer but it still keeps freezing over can you help please Mrs A Hegarty

Defrost timers usually cause this type of frost build up. However it can also be caused by the defrost heater and/or heater thermostat, and these items are behind the panels therefore not easy to get to. Also before you attempt to take the panels apart make sure the refrigerator is unplugged.
